Beach Combers

When I was a child, I got my hair cuts at a long-since-closed salon called Beach Combers. It was specifically for children’s haircuts and it was beach themed, of course. The chairs were shaped like turtles and dolphins, and the walls were painted seafoam green. When your haircut was finished, the hairdresser would spray it with a “sparkle spray”- very exciting when you’re a child.

While you were getting your hair cut, they let you pick out a movie or show to watch on a little TV. I am pretty sure the movies were on DVD. I don’t remember anything I watched but I remember some other kid watching teletubbies. And my sister said they had SpongeBob.

I was actually able to find this picture of the inside- you can see a dolphin chair and the pole filled with pictures of all the movies you could choose from! You can kind of see the tv up on the counter too.

I asked my parents what they remembered about it, and my Dad remembered playing air hockey with me in the waiting room while my sister got her hair cut.
