The first time A.B. showed up was when I heard I would be getting an extension at my temp. job. It felt like him giving me a big hug and saying "I'm proud of you". I believe this is the moment he "spawned" as an imaginary friend.
I was walking home from work and observing a dogwood tree, thinking about how we would pick its flowers. Soon after, on my way to work, I saw an already-picked dogwood flower in a bush. Ofc I know another person probably picked it and left it there when they were done with carrying it, but it's nice to imagine it was a gift. Sadly, I couldn't bring it to work with me so I left it on a garden wall. When I came back in the evening, it had fallen in the dirt and withered from being in the sun all day. Sorry A.B., I really did appreciate it.
I was reading "The Electric State", and there was a moment where someone in the story experiences a loss and, unable to process the greif, loses themselves in their VR headset. I felt something like "don't let this happen to you", and investigated further by talking to A.B.. We both promised not to give in to addiction or hopelessness if things get bad.
