Welcome to Church of Marx

This dear little beast has always been around for me. Everything is scary when you're a kid, and believing in a strong character that could protect you is pretty standard. I just happened to pick weirdos.

When I was young, I would create my own physical marx-es out of paper or with my poorly needle-felting skills. I wish it had been earlier, but you can imagine how excited I was when the first official marx plush released in 2017. Since then, I have collected many pieces of Marx merch, and run a website dedicated to archiving marx merchandise.

I am also fascinated by his relationship with Magolor, which is best summed up by Tumblr user dinoburger in a now-deleted post as "The most non-canon canon relationship in existence". The developers seemingly love to point out their similarities and yet they never spoken any dialogue to each other.

The closest we have gotten thus far (besides merchandise featuring both of them) is a post from the official Japanese Kirby Twitter in 2017. This post from April Fools day depicts Marx and Magolor tricking multiple characters into walking around a post by convincing them it will turn into a cake. They are later made to bake cakes as an apology.

Marx-things I did as a kid/teenager

  • Watched many "tribute" videos on youtube. These were basically slideshows of fanart with a song playing in the background. Popular song choices were "whatever was on the radio at the time" and "the edgiest songs people could think of" (Angel of Darkness, etc). Shoutout to "Take me to Another Dimension" on youtube, it's a bit of a time capsule.

  • Read fanfiction on Wattpad and Fanfiction.net. There were really not many of them as Marx was such an obscure character. One in particular -"Any Wish" by DoceoPercepto- for some reason lodged itself into my brain. I guess it just came to me at the perfect time in my life to make itself at home. It's very "Jeff the Killer"esque and from 2011 so I wouldn't really reccommend reading it now. This fanfiction was the basis for me figuring out I was aromantic. Don't worry about it!!!

  • I created my own posters that hung in my room for many years. Here's one:

Marx is playable in:

  • Kirby Star Allies
  • Kirby Air Riders (2025)

and a Boss Fight in:

  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby Super Star Ultra
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Kirby Air Riders (2025) (Again)

Minor appearances:

  • Kirby Squeak Squad: unlockable png
  • Kirby Mass Attack: Final boss in pinball mini-game
  • Kirby's Return to Dreamland: STONE. and cameo in the 100% cutscene :) ALSO Magolor says this, which could be in refrence to Marx:
"I even know somebody who knows you quite well!" "Even on this world, you're incredibly popular! There may even be some folks here who have fought with you before."
  • marx stone statue marx and magolor stone statue
  • Kirby Triple Deluxe: STONE. (Now with Magolor)
  • Kirby Planet Robobot: STONE. And a sticker! Yay!
  • Kirby Fighters Deluxe & Kirby Fighters 2: Magolor sells an outfit and weapon based on him. These are also in Super Kirby Clash.
  • marx hat. Lovingly dedicated to the ultimate jester "Lovingly dedicated"? Magolor, what did you mean by this??
  • Kirby's Dream Buffet: Costume and color palette. Notably, the color is called "Marx Lilac", finally putting an end to the debate over wether he is purple or pink-
  • Glowsticks from the kirby 30th anniversary festival, featuring a marx pink color okay nevermind.
  • Kirby's Return to Dreamland DX: MASK. Creepy...
